Psychotherapy
As a Certified Internal Family Systems therapist, I help you to come into better relationship with the different parts of yourself, fostering healing of old wounds. IFS recognizes that you can experience polarization of emotions, such as sadness and anger, leaving you feeling confused and overwhelmed. The technique of dialoging with the different parts that you hold inside can lead to integration and an increased sense of empowerment.
In my work as a therapist I also draw upon my meditation and yoga practices.
Sessions are 45 minutes to an hour, in person or by video.
Psychoanalysis
My training in psychoanalysis has given me an appreciation of how the human unconscious — what lives outside our conscious awareness — exerts a powerful influence on our emotions and behavior. Through our exploration of your feelings, desires, fantasies and dreams, I develop an understanding of your internal world, as well as your interpersonal challenges. This intimate partnership between us provides a unique opportunity for these dynamics to surface and be looked at together.
I have a “relational” approach, which means that I see myself as a partner, and contributor, to what comes up in our relationship.
We may meet two or more times per week and
sessions are 45 minutes in length, in person or by video.
Breathwork
Breathwork is a healing modality that works on the somatic level to release stuck emotions that have accumulated over time in your body. I am trained in a pranayama breathing meditation as taught by David Elliott. It opens up the heart and relaxes the nervous system. At the beginning of the session I draw upon my experience as a psychotherapist to explore what is going on for you in this moment. After we have talked about any challenges or issues that are present, I guide you in an active breathwork technique followed by a period of rest. Sessions both by video and in-person are one hour.
